Canned tuna

TASTIN has developed a new line of Portuguese canned tuna in exclusive recipes, with their own herb blends and spices.

TASTIN selected the best tuna from the Azores - S. Jorge island - for making six new irresistible proposals.
Tasting these newest proposals, people surrender to the alliance between tradition and quality with the inovation and knowledge of TASTIN.

Fishing…

In the Azores, the tuna are caught by hook and line, through a traditional fishing gear, century-old, known as "jump and stick," which differs from the others, be very selective and allow a higher quality fish. Local boats, known as "boats with open mouth," are made to toil with a crew of only 2 or 3 men on board. As a result, we obtain a preserved meat with incomparable flavor and texture.

The preparation…

In recent decades, there has been an increasing exploitation of various species of tuna by large commercial fleets, worldwide. In the Azores, this trend is not, press for the quality rather than quantity. The loins worked manually originate fillets in olive oil (in packs of 120 grams). With regard to the fillets, they are cut manually as the can, by the “enlatadeiras”, and arranged in horizontal, dipping them in delicious extra virgin olive oil emulsion with different and unique mixtures of herbs, as if in a dream.
